Reseña del editor Composer Marjorie de Muynck first envisioned a piece of music in the alternative tuning of Ohm (between C and C#) in early 2000. There's No Place Like Ohm, a pioneering work in the earth based key of Ohm, was released in 2003. In There s No Place Like Ohm Vol. 2, de Muynck further develops the idea of a sacred sound journey through the use of indigenous and acoustic world instruments. Each of de Muynck's ambient recordings are shamanic musical compositions featuring sounds from the natural world.Percussion instruments were intentionally not used in this composition, which aims instead to feature the rhythms and pulses of the natural world. Wind instruments made of wood were chosen because of their unique ability to evoke nature; the clarinet and Native American flute for their ability to mimic bird songs and their flight, the didgeridoo for its serpentine and earthy rhythm and tone. The Middle Eastern oud was chosen for its ability to conjure up images of landscape, sand and sun, and the African kora (a gourd) a string instrument, when played, gorgeously summons the elements and the feeling of sunlight and rain. The Ohm drone present throughout this recording is a creative blending, complex and rich with overtones. A drone holds sacred ground throughout a musical journey. One can easily understand why it is an element frequently used in world music.This is de Muynck's second sound healing recording in what has become her signature tuning of Ohm, known for its soothing and healing properties. Both Volumes of this work were created during my healing journey from cancer, and were especially rich experiences for me as I turned to nature and sounds of the earth for personal healing. -Marjorie de Muynck Artista biografía Marjorie de Muynck Accomplished musician and sound healer, Marjorie is a founder of the Acutonics® Sound Healing System and the Kairos Institute of Sound Healing. She also co-authored the book, "Acutonics: There's No Place Like Ohm: Sound Healing, Oriental Medicine and the Cosmic Mysteries." Marjorie taught Shiatsu, Hara Diagnosis, Kundalini Yoga, Reiki and Acutonics at the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Seattle. She also co-developed a healing treatment called "Harmonic Attunement", which incorporates using cosmically tuned symphonic gongs, tuning forks, didgeridoos, Tibetan bowls and bells. A graduate of the Seattle Shiatsu Institute with an extensive background in Oriental Medicine, Marjorie also has done post-graduate studies in Musicology. She has been a performer and composer for dance, film and performance groups for over 30 years, and was an original member and founder of the Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet. A specialist in wind instruments, Marjorie performed Native American Flute on the Yoga Instructional Video "Strength and Spirit" with renowned yoga instructor Ana Forest. Will Dowd Drummer/Percussionist Will Dowd studied Jazz at the New England Conservatory of Music and the Berklee School of Music. He has performed with Amy Denio, The Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet, Global Village, Linda Waterfall and Orville Johnson. Will has toured Europe and Africa, and has performed on over 60 album projects and film scores. In addition to his work as a percussionist, Will has produced, recorded and engineered albums for various artists including Seattle based Shakuhachi flute master Peter Ross. As a composer Will has scored promotional videos for numerous area colleges, and an hour-long yoga instructional video for internationally famous Yoga instructor Ana Forrest.
