UNFRAMED POSTER Travis Air Force Base (KSUU) is a United States Air Force base located 3 miles from downtown Fairfield, California. Its under the operational control of the Air Mobility Command (AMC). The base hosts the 60th Air Mobility Wing which is the largest air transport wing in the US Air Force. The base was originally named Fairfield-Suisun Army Air Base, following the end of World War II, the base was renamed Fairfield-Suisun Air Force Base. The base was later renamed Travis Air Force base in 1951 in honor of Brigadier General Robert F. Travis.
